Our aim is to build a safe hub which integrates seamlessly with the existing community. Each resident has their own space with bed, bathroom, kitchenette and work/circulating area. They also benefit from communal areas such as screen rooms, large kitchens, social areas, co-working spaces.
Many existing residents in Peckham live in houses of multi-occupation (HMOs). These are often young people starting out from university as well as teachers and health service workers from local hospitals such as Guys and Kings. Our shared living accommodation will be purpose built to meet their needs. Southwark currently has a shortage of affordable family homes. By providing the opportunities for local people to have access to high quality shared living with safe and friendly communal spaces, the HMOs they currently reside in can be returned to larger much-needed family homes. The development will also provide dedicated new large family-sized units for social rent in the building facing onto Alpha Street.
To us shared living is about creating spaces where relationships are formed by offering a safe, convenient and social solution to the housing crisis. Residents enjoy their own circa 25m² home with sleeping area, bathroom, kitchenette and circle space with a desk. They then have access to communal facilities including a large kitchen, gym, indoor and outdoor social areas, bike storage, and co-working spaces. The icons show the amenities we typically offer to create a vibrant community. Our developments often appeal to people living in house shares. When they move out their former homes can be returned to family homes benefitting the whole community.
This scheme will include commercial space fronting onto Rye Lane. What would you like it to include? Tell us on our Have Your Say page.
